The country of France has so much history and culture and has to be unearthed and explored as it would be a shame to spend all of your trip in one city or town. It is indeed worth analysing what attractions are in the adjoining villages to where you plan to stay, as there may well be some hidden gems there that will make your trip that little bit more wonderful.
Paris is the most visited destination that tourists visiting this attractive country want to discover. There is so much to do here, from fine dining, to extravagant shows and historical monuments, there is sure to be something for everybody, no matter what the age.
But whilst there is more than enough to enjoy in the French capital, there is also so much going on outside of it. Tiny adjacent towns are pictoral and a brilliant getaway from all the hustle and bustle of the main tourist sights.
The small town of Versailles is situated only 20 km west of Paris, making this an idyllic place to visit as most of the day will not be spent on transport reaching the destinations. Paris Versailles showcases the superb Palace of Versailles and its dazzling gardens. The Palace is full of significance and history as this was the Royal residence for over a century before the French Revolution saw the end to the King and Queen of France.
The impressive palace holds over 700 rooms, including the Hall of Mirrors which showcases 17 huge mirrors which overlook 17 windows into the extravagant gardens beneath. This is perhaps the most impressive room of the palace, in which King Louis XIV used to show off to guests.
The peaceful gardens should be explored at your leisure also. Marvel at the marble and bronze statues, fountains and geometrically aligned terraces.
A day visit to Paris Versailles is the ideal addition to ensure the most is made of any French holiday.
