The New Wizard of Oz Theatre Break Has Some Excellent Innovative Twists.

If you assume the Wizard of Oz theatre break is a rather new idea, think again. The Wizard of Oz theatre break has provided families with amusement for over a century. And as they are still enormously popular, it certainly shows something about the class of this London theatre break.

What makes this production so flourishing is the various artistic influences different directors bring to the show. This time, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Bill Kenwright weave in their magic to produce a great new turn on the performance, complete with new songs and surprises. The sets and costumes have also had an remarkable update by the productions creative team, taking the show into the 21st century.

This new break to see the Wizard of Oz at the theatre is based on the timeless traditional 1939 film, in which Dorothy and her dog Toto get caught in a tornado which sends their house flyinguproots their house and lands in Munchkin Land, on top of the Wicked Witch of the East who rules over the territory. After meeting the Good Witch of the North and the Wicked Witch of the West and acquiring some beautiful ruby slippers, Dorothy and Toto embark on a task to find the Wizard of Oz who will return her home back to Kansas. Along the way they meet some obstructions; Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! But also some friends; the scarecrow with no brain, the tin man with no heart and the lion with no courage, all hoping that the Wonderful Wizard of Oz can help them with their own struggles.

The tale of the Wizard of Oz dates back to 1900 when L. Frank Baum wrote the children’s novel. It was instantly successful and two years after the tale got made into a production for the theatre. The author then went on to write 13 more Oz books.

The Wizard of Oz theatre break has been flourishing for 109 years, don’t miss this heart-warming favourite at the theatre.
